Edcouch-Elsa ISD Announces Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Schools!

The Edcouch-Elsa Independent School District Board of Trustees are proud to announce Dr. Greg Rodríguez as its Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Schools.

Dr. Rodríguez most recently served as the Deputy Superintendent of Schools at the richly diverse Waterbury Public Schools in Waterbury, CT. He has previously served as the Superintendent in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Deputy Superintendent in Huntsville ISD, and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability in San Marcos CISD. He has led in various administrative roles including Director of Secondary Curriculum and District Accountability, Administrative Supervisor, and Technology Integration Facilitator.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish from Southwest Texas State University and a master’s in curriculum and instruction from Houston Baptist University with a specialization in Instructional Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Education with a concentration in School Improvement from Texas State University-San Marcos. He is a lifelong educator with research interests in online professional networks for educator professional development, education policy, curriculum and instructional supervision, and public education.

He is a leader dedicated to making visible and rapid improvements in the academic achievement of all children. He is responsible for removing barriers to build capacity for quality teaching and learning in schools. Dr. Rodríguez is eager to unite parents, educators, and business and community leaders behind a clear and coherent vision of student achievement for Edcouch-Elsa ISD.

Dr. Rodríguez and his wife are excited to return to Texas, their native home. They have two adult children and look forward to joining the Edcouch-Elsa community.

The search was conducted by the law firm of O’Hanlon, Demerath & Castillo in conjunction with Dr. Daniel King and Dr. Abelardo Saavedra.

Edcouch-Elsa ISD will now enter the 21-day waiting period required by state law.
