Dr. Rebecca Saurez
Dr. Rebecca Suárez is a licensed attorney in the State of Texas with a unique lens in media and executive communications. She has a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and received a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. Just recently, Suárez earned her Doctorate in Executive Leadership in Education joining the less than two percent of Hispanic female leaders across the country with a doctoral degree.
A 23-time Lone Star Emmy Award winner, Suárez has more than 15 years of experience in media, communications, marketing, and school public relations. As a former television news anchor and reporter for Univision and Telemundo news, Suarez knows first-hand the value of information, transparency, and community engagement. Suarez also worked for the largest school district in Texas in several roles including Deputy Press Secretary, Executive Officer of Communications, and Chief of Communications. As Chief of Communications, Suarez led multiple communication divisions including media relations/press office, multimedia services, branding, web, social media, publications, translation & interpretations, information center, benefits communications, and bond communications.
Suárez has earned numerous national, state, and local accolades, including the Gabriel National Award, Lone Star Emmy Awards, Houston Press Award, Media Honor Roll, Houston Business Journal 40 Under 40, National School Public Relations Associations and Texas School Public Relations Associations awards. Dr. Suarez has been invited to present on various communications topics during national and state conferences, including the Council of Great City Schools (CGCS), Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA), and the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). Suarez enjoys spending time with her daughter Wendolyne and playing soccer and guitar.
